prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

(RV 10) Nova Scotia.

On August 5, 1986 we drove from the Bay of Fundy to Nova Scotia. We planned to stay some in the south and some in the north. There is a land route from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia. There is an
welcoming Center at the entrance to Nova Scotia. We were impressed with the bagpiper playing there. He was all decked out, kilt and all.

We stopped at Truro. From here we would go see the tidal bore, Peggy's Cove, and Halifax. The tidal bore is something to see.
Twice a day the rivers in this area go empty, drain into the Bay of Fundy. You are on the bank looking at the bottom of a river. Then comes the tidal bore. We were at a recommended spot. Busses of spectators came and unloaded. Then from around a curve comes a 3 or 4 foot wave of water to fill the river.

We went to Peggy's Cove. The most photographed light house in the world.

Halifax was fascinating. We went to the Maritime Museum and the Citadel. The Citadel had been under many uniforms. Most of them were exhibited. The Citadel was on a hill over looking the harbor. During World War II the harbor would fill with supply ships. Then they would form a convoy and rush for England.

The Citadel was a grand show.
