prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

Bette J. Kauffman. Speaker at today's NLGHS meeting.

Bette gave a wonderful talk at the monthly meeting, held today, of the North Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Society. Bette is a professor at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the Department of Communication.

I enjoyed the presentation. The talk was about the diary of a girl who lived in Monroe during the Civil War.

She was a patriotic Southern Belle who was crushed by the war's outcome. Bette's talk gave many interesting anecdotes about life in Monroe during the Civil War.
