prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

(Widower 9) More 0f my Third Farewell Tour of the West Coast.

I am settled in at the Evergreen Coho Resort in July 2010. Ready for my 85th Birthday. Ah, I wish that I were young again.

This is an informative blog that I wrote about my visit. See 2010 visit to Evergreen Coho Resort.

I was able to attend the International Lawn mower Races in Port Hadlock. See the blog Port Hadlock Lawn Mower Races.

During the summers Port Townsend had a gourmet hot dog stand downtown called Dogs a Foot. They even had an andoiulle (a smoked sausage from South Louisiana) with kraurt dog that I loved. See Dogs a Foot. Notice the old painting on the brick wall of the building behind the stand. That painting is famous and much photographed.

The month ended too soon and I was on my way south. I soon went over the Hood Canal Floating Bridge. Jackie and I drove over this bridge every time that we went to the mall. Often the bridge was open so that an atomic submarine could come through. Traffic was stopped and you had a good view of the sub. Here are some photos of the bridge opening for a sail boat. See Hood Canal opens for a tall sail boat.  In my 2012 trip to Washington I wrote another blog on the bridge. See Hood Canal Bridge blog of 2012. The later blog is after the bridge was worked over.

My next stop was in Roseburg, Oregon. My niece Dorothy from Taft, California lives there. Roseburg is so different from Taft ( a little greener). Annie takes care of two turtles. See Two old turtles. She also takes care of her husband Harry. Her brother Bobby and his wife Janet live nearby. See Annie, Harry, Bobby, and Janet

I went on south to Vacaville, CA where Jim Spaulding lived. He and I walked for years together at Evergreen Coho Resort. We had a meal and a walk and a good visit. Then on to Modesto to visit my son Mike and his family. What a good looking group. What nice people.

Rebecca, Mike, Drew, and Lilly.
