I was able to attend the International Lawn mower Races in Port Hadlock. See the blog Port Hadlock Lawn Mower Races.
During the summers Port Townsend had a gourmet hot dog stand downtown called Dogs a Foot. They even had an andoiulle (a smoked sausage from South Louisiana) with kraurt dog that I loved. See Dogs a Foot. Notice the old painting on the brick wall of the building behind the stand. That painting is famous and much photographed.
The month ended too soon and I was on my way south. I soon went over the Hood Canal Floating Bridge. Jackie and I drove over this bridge every time that we went to the mall. Often the bridge was open so that an atomic submarine could come through. Traffic was stopped and you had a good view of the sub. Here are some photos of the bridge opening for a sail boat. My next stop was in Roseburg, Oregon. My niece Dorothy from Taft, California lives there. Roseburg is so different from Taft ( a little greener). Annie takes care of two turtles. See Two old turtles. I went on south to Vacaville, CA where Jim Spaulding lived. He and I walked for years together at Evergreen Coho Resort. We had a meal and a walk and a good visit. Then on to Modesto to visit my son Mike and his family. What a good looking group. What nice people.
