prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

The Pequots are back!

It looked for awhile that Thomas Munson and his fellow Puritans had put the Pequot Indian Tribe away. Not so. A while back they opened a bingo parlor in Southeast Connecticut.  It is now the world's largest bingo parlor. Then they added a casino with 6300 slot machines, 100 poker tables, and floor space equal to the floor space of the Pentagon.

It is called the Foxwoods Casino and is the largest casino in the United States. For many years every member of the tribe received a check for $100,000 as their share of the casino profits.
