prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

Jasper, Glaciers, and Banff.

After Edmonton, Jackie and I spent several weeks in the Jasper-Banff area. We always remembered this time. What scenery. There are seven glaciers in this area. Melt water runs into three oceans. We were driving a Ford diesel, the lemon that did not come with a turbo charger. The higher we went the less power the engine put out due to the drop of oxygen in the air.  Going over the pass between Jasper and Banff we could only go four miles per hour! I was worried and much relieved when we went over the summit.

We drove from Edmonton to Jasper. The country changed from plains to the Rockies.

While in Jasper we visited the Athabasca Glacier and Lake Louise.

These busses drive up on the glacier.

That is Jackie in the dark glasses by the bus that rides up on the glacier. The tires of the bus are as tall as Jackie.

Jackie again in front of Lake Louise. She always gets in front of my camera.

A little hotel in Banff.

We drove to Calgary and visited the site of the winter olympics.
