prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

The Old Prune Picker passed out in the kitchen this morning!

As I have said the prunepicker blog is about me. Passing out this morning in the kitchen is sure about me. I had a head cold and severe coughing during the night and got out of bed at 3 am. Around 6 am I got a little nauseated and decided to have a piece of string cheese and soda crackers .Often when I am eating I have food hang up in my esophagus and I feel like I am going to pass out. Ten years ago I did pass out. I have had my esophagus stretched three times since then but it does not seem to help. The last months my swallowing problem seems to be getting worse.

This morning I was hanging on to the sink (on the right in the picture) when I woke up laying on the floor with my head on the step into the hall. I said to myself "Chuck, what are you doing laying on the floor? " It is odd to wake up and see your feet at the same level as your head. I think in the future when I feel like I did this am I should sit down. I sure do not want to swallow while I am driving a car!

I am still having trouble. I plan to go go see my doctor next week. I may have to cut back on solid foods. Hello blender.

  1. Holy Mackerel, Mr. Chuck! I am so glad that you are o.k. Like we tell people at our tattoo shop, It's not the fainting that hurts you, it's the fall. Maybe you should borrow one of John's old football helmets! Ha Ha! Take care!
