prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

An Unpleasant Census.

Dr Jeffery Hankins, a history professor at Tech, gave a lecture at the Lincoln Public Library last night.  The title was "An Unpleasant Census". The lecture was about a census taken in London in the 17th century. The objective of the census was to help keep foreigners out of London.

It was an interesting lecture and I picked up a couple of facts about the history of London. Of the some 25,000 people in the area, 12 attended the lecture. The old prune picker was one of the twelve.
