prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

Northeast Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Society

We had two speakers yesterday 1/11/2015. Ted Brodie gave a lecture on the Battle of New Orleans. Even tho Battle was fought after the War of 1812 had ended, I am glad to report that we won.

Francis Jakes gave a talk on the Daughters of the War of 1812. Francis is a member of the organization and gave an informative talk on the history and projects of the Daughters of the War of 1812. I was impressed.

After the two talks we adjourned to coffee and some more of the best home made cookies that I have ever had.
