prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

I have seen four squirrels at one time on the deck!

John said this the other day. This was a newsworthy statement. Starting several months ago the squirrels and the songbirds disappeared from this area. This fact was pointed out by the nature/fishing/hunting columnist in the Ruston paper. Friends have commented on this phenomena. A friend pointed out that the chickadee and the titmouse and other birds are usually here year round. It has been spooky. Has it been caused by global warming?

Here are some afternoon photos.

It is exciting to see them back. It is not normal, and is unsettleing, to be in the middle of piney woods and not see birds or squirrels.

It is good that we have had John's chickens and rabbits!
