prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

The cat from the woods. (Named Patches by Kerry)

Several weeks ago a sweet kitty appeared on the deck and in the gazebo. She was and is exceptionally friendly. We would feed her.

She was pregnant. We assumed that she would have her liter under the porch. We eagerly awaited the appearance of 7 or 8 kittens. Then tragedy. Patches after an absence of several days showed up with this bite out of her right rear leg.

A good bite had been taken out of her. She did not walk on the leg at first. She was no longer pregnant. She started not appearing for several days at a time. We were blue. We assumed that the biter had killed all the new born kittens.

Then Kerry got this shot. Kittens crawling out from under the deck.

So exciting! Two days later Kerry was feeding a kitten out of her hand on her lap.

Kerry, Patches, and the two kittens on the deck.

Happy days are here again. At least two kittens lived. We hope that the biter does not return.

76 days to 90th.
