prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

Great-grandfather Samuel.

Do you have a great-grandfather named Samuel? I have four. My 8th great-grandfather was part of the Pilgrim migration of the 15th century.

Samuel was a Hebrew name that meant "son of God" or "God has heard". Samuel was the last of the Biblical Judges. He anointed Saul to be King and later anointed David to be King. The name Samuel was used a lot during  the Reformation.

I have many Munson cousins named Samuel. I had Christian ancestors.
