prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

Bayeux Tapestry

William won the battle of 1066 and the Normans took over England. His wife Queen Mathilda commissioned a tapestry to tell the story. The result is the Bayeux Tapestry which is like a 150 foot comic book. It is made of wool embroidery that is 900 years old.

It is very interesting. The audio tape added a lot of detail I would have missed. After walking the length of the tapestry Nancy and I saw a film that added a lot to our visit.

We went through exhibit with this group of English students.

The photographer got in this picture.
