Prunepicker swimming at Puddingstone Dam.

Construction on the Puddingstone Dam was started in 1925, the year that I was born. It was a flood control project built in the hills about 7 miles Northwest of Pomona. Altho it was a long walk on summer days I swam there a lot. Admission was free.

This panoramic view shows the dam. The white object on the other side of the water.

It was an exciting swim. The dam surface was at an angle of 45 degrees and you had to walk real careful. I doubt that they let you swim off of it now.

The water was 15 to 20 feet. Quite often I was the only one in my group able to dive to the bottom and bring up some mud to prove that I had reached bottom. I was quite proud of that!

I wonder how it got that swell name?
