Missed a turn yesterday on the way to Modesto.

I had planned to take this route between Eureka and Modesto.

This involved a turn to the west at Willits and driving around Clear Lake to Williams. At Williams I was going to take Interstate 5 for  a semi quiet ride through Sacramento to Modesto. I missed the turn (sleepy?) and the first thing I knew I was on my way to Santa Rosa and a hectic route through the Bay Area to Modesto.I went this way.

This required a 150 miles of driving in bumper to bumper traffic, many lanes, many interchanges, at 65 to 70 miles per hour. However it was interesting and I am glad that I missed my turn.

I gassed up in Windsor just north of Santa Rosa. Jackie and I spent a lot of time in a Thousand Trails Park in Windsor in our fifth wheel trailer. Boy, has the area built up. And the traffic. I drove to San Rafael, past San Quentin and over the Richmond Bridge.

It is a real big bridge. Looking south I could see the skyline of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay Bridge. I sure wanted to take a picture!

From Santa Rosa to Modesto was solid traffic. Kinda glad that I am not involved in that at home. Around Ruston the important thing is to watch out for deer, armadillos, possums, raccoons, and turtles.

It was worth the drive. That evening my son Mike to us to dinner. This picture was taken by my grand daughter Lilly.. In the pic is grandson Drew, Mike, Mrs Mike Monson (Rebecca), and the Old Prunepicker. I look like I am wondering "where am I?".
