(Youth Bay Area 5) 0n the lam to Aunt Marjorie's.

This post covers another trip to the Bay Area. I ran away (escaped ?) from the George Junior Republic in Chino and hitch hiked to Aunt Marjorie's in Berkely.

This incident is covered in other chapters of my life story. See  stay at George Junior Republic. After my Dad was left permanently disabled by a stroke, my siblings placed me in the George Junior Republic. This was and is a long established boys home just south of Pomona. I felt that I was in a prison and climbed out a window on my second night there. Here is a recent picture of the window.

It probably was around midnight. It was dark and a 3-4 hour walk to the highway. Then 400 miles to Berkeley.

Aunt Marjorie phoned my sister Jean and put me on a bus back to Pomona. This was a short visit. I was to return and stay longer.
