Truro is about in the center of Nova Scotia. It is very near the upper end of the Bay of Fundy. That is why the tidal bore is so obvious there. From Truro we drove four hours north to Baddeck. From here we visited local sights and drove around the upper end of Nova Scotia to Louisbourg on the Atlantic Ocean.
Baddeck is the site of the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. The museum is so impressive. Bell is impressive. He was active in the development of hydrofoil boats, airplanes, and the telephone. Remember the telephone?
In Baddeck we walked out the pier and took a boat tour of the lake. We sailed by the Bell Estate which is still in the Bell family.
Nearby was Gaelic College. Then the only place in the world other than Scotland where Gaelic was taught. We attended a program at the college that involved Scottish dancing. With pretty girls.
Our trip to see Fort Louisbourg was very interesting. At the visitors center we put in busses for a ride to the Fort. Everything at the Fort was old style, including the food, Boy was the bread hard! Not sliced.
Tue Cabot Trail is a scenic ocean drive along the north coast of Nova Scotia.
When we drove the Cabot Trail there was a spot where a farmer had placed a collection of scarecrows. I gather from google that this collection has grown into a village of scarecrows.
Nova Scotia is really worth a visit.
