Memories of a Prunepicker during the Okie Migration..

We know that the definition of Prunepicker is a person who is a native born Californian. I was born in Pomona, California in 1925. My folks moved from Kansas in 1907. My oldest sister Nita was born in Oklahoma on the way to California. I and my other seven siblings were born in California. You might say that my folks were very early Okies. A quarter of a million Okies ( people from Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas) moved to my area  from 1935 to 1940. I was growing from ten to fifteen. Most of my friends were Okies. I can remember being at a function and I was the only Prunepicker present!

One family of Okies lived across the alley (remember alleys?) from our house. My older brother married the oldest girl in the family. I like Okies.
