prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

I have started a tribe of Choctaws!

I visited the headquarters of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma today. It is located in Durant, Oklahoma.

I wanted help in identifying what per cent Choctaw my children are. I think that I know, but wanted back up and precision.  I will have to contact the Nation's genealogy department. I did not have time today and will probably contact them later.

I was curious if Jerald's 1/32 qualifies him as a Choctaw. An official told me that as far as the Nation is concerned any percentage (one drop rule) of Choctaw blood makes a person a Choctaw. This varies somewhat in the hundreds of tribes recognized by the US Government. All of Jackie's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren (with the exception of Winter and Holly) are Choctaws. Any of their natural born children will also be Choctaws.

It would be a tedious paper trail to prove and get them registered. But we know that they are Choctaws.
I have seen them occasionally act like Indians, now I know why. It is in their blood.
