Northeast Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Society.

The good old NELA G&H Society had their December meeting yesterday. We had the usual delicious snacks. The program consisted of five minute talks by volunteers.

President Sandra Jo Blate called the meeting to order.

The members of the society eagerly await my talk. My subject was the trip that my daughter Nancy Ann and I took last May to Rattlesden, England.

From my work on genealogy I had learned that my 8th great grandfather, Thomas Munson had been baptized in Rattlesden in 1612, Four hundred tears later the same baptismal font was still in use. I wrote on my blog that I was thinking about going to Rattlesden to see the font. Nancy Ann said "I want to go with you!" It turned out that Nancy took me on a three week tour of England and France. The trip is now a precious memory. We had a good time. 21 days and nights together will really make a father and a daughter bond.

I closed my talk with the statement "The most memorable thing about the trip was the fact that Nancy Ann would take three weeks out from her busy life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and quilter to escort me on the trip. I truly appreciate it."

I love you, Nancy Ann.

  1. I'm so glad I saw this after all. I have so many special memories from our trip and I often think about our time at Rattlesden.
