Carnac, Brittany, France.

Late in May my daughter Nancy and I will be staying in Bayeux in Normandy, France. I have been reading a travel book on Brittany and Normandy and came upon an interesting comment (interesting to a history fan) about Carnac. Carnac is a town on the south coast of Brittany.

Some think that this place is the oldest continuously occupied spot in the world. Stone remains indicate that it has been occupied since 5700 BC. These stone megaliths predate the Pyramids and Stonehenge. They were placed by pre Celtic people. The time from the earliest installed stones to the most recent spans 5000 years. There are 3000 stones.

Nancy and I take off in 71 days. But who is counting?
