The world famous Grove Street Cemetery.

I drove about 1900 miles to get here. This is the front gate. They call it the Egyptian Gate.

Just inside the gate is this old building which was originally a chapel.

The gravestone for Thomas Munson, my 8th great grandfather. That is ten fathers ago!

Thomas is actually buried under downtown New Haven. He was buried in 1675 in the town green. Later it was necessary to relocate the cemetery. The headstones were placed in a church basement. Later his headstone was placed here in the new town cemetery. The cemetery was way out of town when it first opened. Now there are miles of city and Yale University right on it. Another headstone without a body is this one for Glenn Miller.
