Proceedings of the 1987 Munson Family Reunion

I just received a 200 page booklet that contains the Proceedings of The Munson Family Reunion of 1987. This reunion was held in New Haven, Connecticut and was held to mark the 350th year anniversary of the first appearance of Thomas Munson in America. He was listed in the militia of Hartford, Connecticut in the Pequot Indian War.

Hundreds of Munsons attended the affair. I would have been there if I had known about it.

The newspaper clipping above is from the New Haven paper. The heading states that the Munsons are coming. The article wonders if this is the largest family reunion ever held. I googled it and there was a family reunion in North Carolina that had over 2500 in attendance.

When Jackie and I were RVing we drove through New Haven. I had no idea that the graves of some of my great grandfathers were nearby. I was not in the genealogical mode at that time. I wish that I had known. I plan to visit the graves in September.

  1. It's funny, I've always thought of myself as a Californian with little to no affinity for East Coasters. I'll have to rethink that.
