Pequot Indian War of 1637.

The first written record of my 8th great grand father, Thomas Munson, in America was the listing of his name in the colonial soldiers that took part in the Pequot Indian War of 1637. He served in the militia all of his life and ended up as a captain. He participated in the King Phillips War of 1675. The King Phillips War was the last New England indian war.

The Pequot Indian War was the result of years of murders and raids by indians. I assume that they were not happy about New England being settled by others. The Pequots had indian enemies also. Some of these indian enemies of the Pequot helped the colonialists. The war consisted of a raid on the Peguot village when 700 to 800 Pequots were killed. Survivors were sold into slavery. This crushing defeat ended any more problems with the Pequot Indians for some 350 years. Then they opened the Foxwoods Casino. This casino is one of the largest and most successful of all of the casinos in the world and takes many scalps.

Where is Captain Thomas Munson when we need him?
