Tee Ball World Series.

Ross's team had to win 4 or 5 games straight to win the World Series and take home the Number 1 Trophy. They did it! Top pic shows the two teams before the game. On the left is the TNT Pest Control Team and on the right is Johnny's Pizza.

It was an exciting game and Ross had three hits and three runs.

Then teams played every night for several nights. After the game one Father was heard saying "Thank Goodness no more ball games!"

Flag Day in Ruston

I was at the VFW Post at 4:45 am to help put out flags in Ruston. There were already a group of volunteers from the National Guard at work on the job. They looked so young and able that I retired from the field.

Several hundred flags are placed downtown and the main entrances to Ruston. A lot of physical labor is required to place cement block flag holders and insert the flags. They will go out this evening, pick up the flags, and put them away.

The peaches are about ready to pick. It is exciting to see the harvest begin. There will soon be crowds at the shed to buy fresh delicious peaches.

This lovely home is located in the woods north of Ruston. Notice the sturdy bridge over the creek.

Change in travel plans.

I am leaving Ruston a week later than I had planned. Will leave for Jackson on Monday June 21. I will go to the Bluegrass Festival in Bean Blossom, Indiana next year. Probably on the way to Arlington. I have work on the census and Bean Blossom was out of the way anyhow.

Ruston, Louisiana City Hall

People from Ruston who were killed in any war since World War I are listed on the Memorial Plaque. Lincoln Parish was formed after the Civil War. I like to ask "How come no one from Lincoln Parish served in the Civil War?" It is a trick question, of course, since there was no Lincoln Parish during the Civil War.

nostalga trigger. Pomona about 1925. My childhood and teen age years
were spent in such a lovely place. Alas it is all gone now.

It was hot on the census trail today. 95 or so. I spent some time on
hot porches!
