Cook Baptist Church Annual Memorial Day Fish Fry.

I have attended this affair for seven or eight years. It is a wonderful community tradition for veterans and spouses. I attended today and loved it. Volunteers line up and cook lots of catfish, french fries, and hush puppies.

They work under the direction of Richard Jones. Richard gets to be boss because he catches all the catfish.

Here are some random crowd photographs.

I enjoy seeing all the nice people. They are people that I have met at Senior Lunch, Swim Class, VFW, Tech Athletic Events, and Jefferson Corner morning coffee. I have met them over the last nine years.

K-9 Creations of Ruston. Good place for dogs.

Located at 692 Burgessville Road. This is a mile or so east of HWY 33. (Famersville Highway) Phone 318-245-6234. I visited there this morning and saw the owner calm a frantic dog. She knows how to talk to dogs. (lots of love) The owner is Tammy Knowles.

Tammy has lots of good help.

I know this good help. She is Breanna Ray. Breanna is the daughter of my maid, Rhonda Ray.

Below is a happy customer. Named Beignet, I think.

Beautiful flowers and nice people.

John has a crop of exotic lilies. He has some planted by the mailbox.

Prettiest mailbox in our area.

Today my lovely maid came and cleaned my 400 square feet. I appreciate it very much. She is an inspiration and I have been keeping my space much neater.

John presented my maid with a bouquet of lilies. Her name is Rhonda Michelle Blakley Ray.

Good friends and lovely flowers.

Dubach honors Veterans with a Flag Ceremony and Lunch

Dubach deserves to feel proud. They put on a fine Veteran Program on Wednesday. May 18.

Ceremony site.

These two men did a great job.

One of the Veterans present. He sure looks familiar.

Downtown Dubach has a beautiful large flag. I loved it. Must be about 10 feet by 15 feet.

My daughter Kerry Lee Adams is a "Cat Whisperer".

John's puppy Rusty and my cat Patches had an appointment Tuesday morning at the Vet for surgery. After six o'clock Monday evening they were not to have any food or water. Patches had to go into a cage. I tried twice to put her in the cage but Patches would jump out before I could close the door. I really had her scared and jumpy. I had treated her pretty rough. She was scared and jumpy. She was hiding in my trailer. I was shook up too and disgusted with myself.

Kerry is famous for taming and handling cats. She deserves the title of Cat Whisperer. I asked her to go to my trailer and put Patches in the cage.

She soon returned and said Patches was in the cage. I could not believe it. Patches is a wild cat who came out of the woods a year and a half ago. Bit Kerry just has a way with cats. Patches has tamed up quite a bit, however. She had her third litter of kittens in my closet a couple of months ago.

John and I delivered Rusty and Patches for fixing on Tuesday and picked  them up on Wednesday.

Patches came home kinda sick. Could not hold food down. She is better today.

If Patches had done to me what I done to her I would never talk to her again. But Patches was her old lovable self to me today.

Choir Spring Concert.

Tech sings! Tech sings a lot. Tech sings good. The Director of Choral Activities at Tech in John Petzet. He is busy.

I enjoyed the Concert. Saturday evening at 7:30.

Symphonic Band Spring Concert

Louisiana Tech is top notch in many disciplines. Primarily technical of course. But they really get after music.Thursday I attended the Tech Jazz Ensemble Spring Concert. It was really fine!

Saturday I attended two more concerts at Tech, At 2 pm I attended (the subject of this blog post) the Spring Concert of the Symphonic Band. In the evening at 7:30 pm I attended the Spring Choir Concert. (the subject of the next blog post)

Jim Ribken directed the Band Concert. The musicians were splendid. They looked so fine in their black clothes. Tech has a very good Band program.

The old Prunepicker is a deer killer.

Since I killed a deer last Monday I realized that I have killed five deer in my lifetime. I have never shot a deer. I went hunting several times but did not ever see a deer. I got all five of my life time deer kills with my steering wheel. One in California, one in Canada, one in Washington, and two in Louisiana.

Deer #1. In 1954 I was driving north on 101 (on the coast in California) in the Redwoods. I was on my way to a well in Petrolia to do well work for Schlumberger. Out of the woods on my right came a deer who ran into my car.

Deer #2. In 1989 Jackie and I were pulling our fifth wheel trailer in British Columbia. We were going west out of Chilliwack. A large deer came out of our left. I thought we were going to get past it but the deer hit our trailer right at our bathroom. That night in the RV park we had to use the camp bathroom.

Deer #3. In 2006 I was driving Jackie to dialysis. (trip from Chimacum to Paulsbo in Washington) We were almost to the Hood Canal Bridge. Pow! From the left a deer hit our Ford sedan and flew over our car. I had to call for another car and driver for Jackie while I went with the wrecker.

Deer #4. In 2013 I was going home from Jefferson Corner. On Simmons a deer came from the left and got me. This was the third body shop trip for my car and I soon traded it in. I hoped to have better luck with a new car.

Deer #5. In 2016 (last week) On the way to Jefferson Corner, in the pitch black at five minutes to five, a deer tore up my car. I am now driving a new Chevy rental. I did not know all the buttons in my Camry after three years so you know how I am doing in the Chevy.

That is enough deer for me. Three states and one Foreign country.

Tech is on the Leading Edge of Jazz.

More culture for the Prunepicker. Attended this program last night.

This was the last concert for Laurence Gibbs. He is retiring soon. He was presented some plaques by fellow faculty and was given a standing ovation.

Lawrence has been a leading figure in both the music at Tech and in the local community for a lifetime. I hope he does not move.
