prune picker

This is the blog of a prune picker. (Native born Californian) Retired oilfield. I am an old man. I blog a lot about my body and getting old. As I approach death life gets more interesting. More interesting is not good. I still drive. I attend sports, music, and civic events. I am writing my memoirs. I attend swim class three times a week. Some of my blogs might be interesting. A lot of my blogs are silly and trivial. None are very long.

Michael Ray, Friend and Paint Tech.

Michael's business card says Paint Tech. He is also a friend who buffed some scratches off my car. You remember my blog about the time that the mailbox jumped out and scratched my car when I tried to reach a newspaper from my car on a rainy day?

There two little dents and several scratches. Michael buffed.......

and buffed.......

It is Michael magic! Scratches gone. He then mixed some touchup paint. This was interesting to watch. Michael called up a menu on a computer, then precisely measured in several paints and mixed.

The computer had painted spots all over the keyboard.

You get gray out of that mess of colors?

Whole lot of shaking going on.

Thanks Michael for your time, effort, and expertise. I really appreciate it.

email from my Doctor and Vital Signs.

Received an email from Dr Carter (VA) about passing out while swallowing last Friday. She will check with gastroenterology about another esophagus dilation. She also said that if I pass out again that I should go to the emergency room. Passing out is serious.

Since Friday I have noticed a serious bruise on my right upper arm. I evidently did not hit hard with my head. I must not eat and drive.

Vital Signs for this week.

Maci is 92.

My old friend Maci is 92. Maci is one of Kerry's cats. Kerry thinks that Maci is 18 human years old. That would be 92 cat years. I first met Maci 7 years ago. She was a tough cookie and loved to bite me. I had to be alert when I petted her. Over the years she has changed and mellowed a lot. Once recently she jumped up in my lap and laid down. I felt highly flattered. She does not bite me anymore. She is just bones and fur and does not run and play. She mostly just lays and sleeps. She likes the stove top.

I feel close to Maci. I am almost 88, which is close to her 92 years.

Eddie G Robinson, Football Coach.

Eddie Robinson knew when he was in the 3rd grade that he wanted to be a football coach. He was and he turned out to one of the best if not the best in history. He said that he had one job and one wife. He coached at Gambling State University which is ten minutes from where I live.

The Eddie G Robinson Museum is on the campus of Grambling State University.

GSU has a world famous band.

I enjoyed my tour of the Museum. It is very well done and the area is proud of the Museum and Eddie.

I get RFD-TV again!

I have been a year without satellite or cable TV. I watched what I could get over the air on my roof antenna. It was not much. Worse of all was the fact that I did not receive any PBS.  I have been watching football, Fox News, and hard core pawn shop over at the Adams's. I finally gave in and had dish installed on Saturday. I now have three wires buried into the trailer. Power, phone, and Dish. I am well connected to the world!

The dish is behind my trailer in the power line right of way.

A man on my roof.

A remote for the front room and the bedroom.

Strange men in my front room. Not too strange.

It is good to get my old favorites again. Hee Haw, Lawrence Welk, and C-Span.

John Adams is 64.

Christian Steven Newberry is delighted to be at the party. His Mother, Joy Kathleen Newberry had cooked a sugar free cake. It was delicious.

John checks his email and messages while his cake is served. He is a busy man. He is much loved and appreciated by his family. The papers by his left hand are birthday cards. He received wonderful cards from his grand children.

Basketball. Techsters vs Utah State.

Good game to watch until the last seconds of the overtime period. Pretty good crowd. The bull dog mascot was busy and lovable. Small children performed at half time.

Another five tuba game. I must be the world's most prolific tuba photographer.

Ex-Techsters and fans.

Justin and his wife discussing game tactics.

These folks should learn to relax.

There are no fans more earnest than  these two men.

Good game, well matched teams.

Skip is deep in thought.

Future (after they get out of kindergarten) players and cheer leaders. They showed off their ball handling skills.

Mr and Mrs Nolan Coleman. He is the famous Right Ear.

The Tech Bulldog is pestering a small fan.

A three pointer in the last seconds of a overtime period gave the victory to Utah State. I sure missed the band singing "oh lord it is hard to be humble".

Lily Monson is 20.

My grand daughter Lily Monson just turned 20. I am posting her picture so that you would know what a typical Monson looks like. Lily is a star student at Fresno State. I love her and am so proud of her.

Bury phone line.

Man came and put the phone line underground. My DSL service is working fine. I use my land line for the fun of it. Have not had one for several years.
